Psalms 91:1-12 “The Lord shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near to you. With your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked because you have made the Lord, who is your refuge, even the Most High, your habitation and no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.”
The following story was told to me as fact; however some say that it is fiction. Fact or fiction, the impact is profound as we relate the events to the care our Father gives us.
A fireman was surveying the situation after a forest fire had been put out and noticed something he hadn’t seen before. A bird, burned to death sitting at the base of a tree. He thought it was strange because birds usually fly out of the forest when there is a fire. This one did not and he wondered why. As he got closer, he took a stick and pushed the little bird to one side. At that point, four little chicks emerged from under the Mother’s wings. This bird, whose instincts more than likely told her to rise up and fly to safety, away from the toxic smoke and flame; would not put her children in danger. The very death that she could have escaped, she embraced to save her children under the safety and comfort of her wings. One died that others could live. Jesus.
This is the scripture brought to life: Psalms 91:4 “The Lord shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge…….”
May you have the Grace in Jesus to live life well and the Peace through His Holy Spirit to enjoy it!
